Decorative Paint

Decorative paint adds character and individuality to a space and is a beautiful addition to any interior design project. As much as I love wallpaper, I love decorative paint even more because of it's adaptability. If a room has a weird shape, decorative paint can accommodate adjustments. Wallpaper on the other hand is confined to roll widths. Here are a few examples of projects that I have painted myself.

Ceiling painted to mimic spanish tile.
This is the entry the painted spanish tile ceiling is located.
Faux finish, or "glaze" as it is sometimes called.
Powder room with custom painted walls in a rustic wallpaper effect. This home was featured in the movie "Traffic" although I am not sure if the bathroom is included in the movie.

Decorative florals used in a free flowing pattern instead of full wallpaper.
Decorative painted frames used instead of drapery.
This fireplace couldn't accommodate nails for hanging art, so I was commissioned to do an Italian landscape, painted right onto the fireplace itself.
This homeowner spent half her life traveling the orient and collecting unique artifacts and souvenirs. She and her husband also hosted many asian exchange students after their own kids had grown. She wanted an oriental mural in her entry to tie in with the theme in her home.
This pattern is stamped in concrete in front of a store in this homeowner's favorite mall. She walked past the store and the concrete pattern stopped her in her tracks. She loved it so much, she took photos of it and commissioned me to paint it on her wall.
Decorative embelishments used as alternative to drapery.

Super fun travel themed family room.

This was a custom stencil I designed, stenciled onto the wall, and then followed it up with freehand brushstrokes.

Here it is again in another colorway.

Hand painted furniture is a unique way to dress up a room.

Last but not least, hand painted stripes can be a nice, cost-effective alternative to wallpaper.
