Music producer's residence

ABOVE - AFTER * * * BELOW - BEFORE
Dave was the epitome of what a radio producer client ought to be. Classy, hip, creative... and talented in so many ways. He was interested in every design detail... down to the buttons on the pillows. This is why he makes great music, he's a detail guy! Dave, his wife Carolyn and I worked together to create a home that would portray the "vibe" they were looking for: Dave's creativity, style and music influence; Carolyn's class and elegance; kid-friendly and casual enough to put visitors at ease. The result: a colorful and vibrant place for the family to live, hang out and entertain.

Part of Dave's art collection displayed above bronze sculptures sitting on a custom wine cabinet made in Mexico. We hadn't added the wine when this photo was taken. You can almost see the drapery panels to the right - done in a woven textured ethnic print.

Long and narrow, the living area had to be photographed in separate sides. This is the left side, with Kreiss sofa in beige mohair. Custom pillows. Dave and Carolyn found the art in a shop in Del Mar, CA. The wall mask is part of their collection from many travels abroad, as well as the unique items in the curio cabinet.

Somewhere I have a photo of the right side - will have to add it later.

Coffee table was located right in the center of the traffic area, so we had a custom oval table made (also in Mexico). The rug, ivory game pieces, accessories... all collected at unique locations locally and abroad.

For a bold statement in the entry, we did a custom painted burl inlay cabinet and had the floral arrangement made.

I had to add this photo... from the family room in another of Dave's residences. The Warhol above the fireplace is such a great piece it deserved a mention in this blog!

As with most people I come across in design... Dave, Carolyn and their two children started off as clients but we finished as friends. I am so glad to have made their acquaintance and had the priveledge to design the space where their family memories will be made.

And the guitar lessons from Dave were priceless!!
